This all-day gathering of responders will be an information-sharing workshop on the growing international issues of large whale entanglements and the officially sanctioned responses to these events. It will highlight network development through internationally accepted guidelines and review entangled whale responses from various regions around the world. Network representatives will present a selection of recent case studies for discussion. Entanglement Response Coordinators and Team Leaders signing up for the workshop are encouraged to submit for consideration outlines of responses from their regions they would like to share with the group.
A session of the workshop will include information regarding tool use, tool development, and protocols implemented for new tool development to learn from other Networks on lessons learned and ideas considered. Attendees are encouraged to bring outreach materials published for their regions. The workshop and the information shared will be in accordance with the guidelines and protocols of the IWC’s Global Entanglement Response Network.
